Positive balance sheet for the hospitality sector in the first nine months of 2018 saw guest figures up 3.9% and overnight stays rising by 3.5%.
In the summer months of 2018, the tourism industry in Baden-Württemberg also recorded growth. According to the State Statistical Office, for the period January to September 2018, approximately 17.2 million arrivals and just under 42.5 million overnight stays were reported. That was overall 3.9% more guests and 3.5% more overnight stays than in the first nine months of 2017.
The positive trend for the first half of 2018 also continued for foreign guests – even more so than domestic guests. For example, the number of arrivals increased by 4.5% to 4.1 million in the first nine months of 2018, with overnight stays increasing by 4.0% to 9.3 million, compared to the same period last year.
Regional evaluations by the National Statistical Office show that all travel areas in the region benefited from the growth. For the Hegau (+ 5.5%) and the Middle Black Forest (+ 5.3%) And Northern Baden- Württemberg (+ 4.9%) in the first three quarters of 2018, overnight stays saw the strongest increases – above the national result. Only in the southern Black Forest holiday regions (+ 1.8%) and Northern Black Forest (+ 1.2%), the development was more restrained.
