Stuttgart: the capital of Baden- Württemberg welcomes you with an exceptional range of cultural activities

While Baden-Württemberg is world famous for its Black Forest and the celebrated, romantic city of Heidelberg, there is much more to see. The dense yet very green metropolitan area around the land’s capital, Stuttgart, on the river Neckar can also surprise with the beauty of its vineyard-adorned landscape and wealth of cultural attractions. Stuttgart is in fact No. 1 Culture Capital for the fourth time. With the Stuttgart State Gallery, the Stuttgart Museum of Art and the Stuttgart State Theatre, the city’s art and culture scene boasts three outstanding flagships. 2019 will see several temporary exhibitions to supplement the State Gallery’s permanent displays. The exhibition “Marcel Duchamp. 100 Questions. 100 Answers” gives visitors important insights into the artist’s way of thinking. As the inventor of the “Readymade”, who declared everyday objects to be works of art, Duchamp revolutionised art history. The State Gallery’s extensive Duchamp collection is on show until 31st March 2019.
