In the year 2019, the Bauhaus celebrates the 100th anniversary of its founding. This seems like a good opportunity for the Stuttgart Region also to spotlight its architectural and cultural attractions from the fields of New Building, Modernism and the avant-garde. The Weissenhof Estate is one of the most prominent testimonies to the New Building movement. Originally conceived for an exhibition of the Deutscher Werkbund, the project involved famous architects such as the Bauhaus directors Walter Gropius and Ludwig Mies van der Rohe, as well as Hans Scharoun, who also had Bauhaus leanings. In the house designed by Le Corbusier the Weissenhof Museum with its Weissenhof workshop is devoting two exhibitions to the jubilee.
