Indonesia’s tourism brand “Wonderful Indonesia” won “The Best Exhibitor 2017” title during ITB Berlin.
Indonesia’s tourism minister Arief Yahya announced the award on March 12, commenting: “This is a proud achievement. ITB Berlin is the world’s biggest tourism exhibition attended by 187 countries and 180,000 individual visitors. Wonderful Indonesia has shown its class at a world level.”
This is the second title won by the country after a 2016 award which last year crowned Wonderful Indonesia as the Best Exhibitor 2016 beating “Imagine” of South Korea, which was placed second, “Incredible India” in third place, followed by Maldives, Sri Lanka and the Philippines. This year “Wonderful Indonesia” topped South Korea and Thailand.
“The target for 2017 is 15 million travellers and revenues of Rp10 trillion,” the Minister said.
This year, Indonesia was present in a 487m2 pavilion themed after maritime tourism and offered cultural performances from Papua, Bali, Betawi and Aceh as well as various art exhibitions.
Another award was given to the Badung region in Bali for its promotional efforts on international markets. The region was given a special award from the hands of Nia Niscaya, Director of International Tourism Promotion. Badung, which includes Kuta Beach and Nusa Dua, welcomed 96.5% of all international arrivals at 4.96 million.
