South Africa Can Rely On Thompsons

One of South Africa’s leading travel wholesalers, Thompsons Holidays have been sourcing and providing products primarily to consumers within Southern Africa for nearly forty years. As some destinations and experiences like cruising, sports travel, escorted tours and self-drive tours require in-depth knowledge and experience, Thompsons employs specialists like Kay Ellison (Product & Contracting Executive – International, Thompsons Holidays) to finesse the products. “My role in Thompsons Holidays prioritises Europe, the Americas and cruising” Ellison told ITB Berlin News. “Visiting ITB gives me the opportunity to follow up on existing contacts, be informed on changes and improvements pick up new trends, and, most importantly, brings me into contact with new suppliers and introduces me to new products that we would consider for inclusion in our portfolio.” While her focus is on Europe and The Americas, three more colleagues from Thompson Holidays are attending ITB Berlin 2017 to cover Asia, Africa, Middles East and The Indian Ocean. Describing ITB as a “melting pot” Ellison pointed out one of the more pressing issues facing a South African travel company: “In view of the weakened nature of our currency, we are particularly on the lookout for products that represent great value for money and that offer new and different traveller experiences” she said
