Canadian success story seeks expansion into the wilderness
Having become Canada’s largest independent travel agency, Vision Travel Solutions arrives at ITB Berlin 2017 keen to expand its horizons. ITB Berlin News spoke to Jason Swaye (CTC Virtuoso Luxury Travel Advisor, Vision Travel Solutions) about the fast-growing corporate travel management company which booked over a million flights to nearly 200 countries last year.
As an independent travel advisor with Vision Travel Solutions, the majority of my clients are in the luxury sector, however not everyone always wants the $4,000 suite on a private Island. ITB Berlin has a huge mix of all sectors from around the world which opens up amazing possibilities for clients. It is a place to network within, so you may find a company that you can say is a ‘diamond in the rough.’ Every morning I arrive at ITB Berlin, I always take a few minutes to read ITB Berlin News – it helps me plan my day, and I notice things I hadn’t heard of before.
What new destinations are you interested in, and what USP must they have?
At the moment, people are looking for off-the-beatenpath types of experiences when travelling. Botswana, for example. Huge, remote, authentic, Botswana has been flying under the radar for many years and now people are starting to try it out.
What trends are you noting in terms of demand?
Clients are now looking for experiences to be travellers instead of tourists. They want to try and immerse themselves in the culture as much as possible so that they can go home actually having seen and experienced where they have been, instead of just being a passive tourist. We are well-placed to provide this kind of product, whether as a leisure or corporate experience
